Already during the time of Jesus earthly ministry, those sent in his name carried oil for healing – a physical sign of the real healing touch of God in Jesus.
In the earliest days of the Church those whose vocation was to continue the apostolic presence, continued also to use the oils of healing and forgiveness in their ministry to the sick.
In the Church today this ministry continues – above all in the home or at the hospital bed of the Christian who suffers; the Parish Priest should be contacted to request this.
It is also appropriate to offer this ministry from time to time in our Church building. At St Edward’s Netley Abbey this ministry is available (in the Crichton Chapel) immediately after the following Sunday morning services
10.00 am - 29th January 2012
10.00 am - 29th April 2012
10.00 am - 29th July 2012
10.00 am - 30th September 2012
10.00 am - 30th December 2012
Those not yet baptized who wish to receive the healing touch of Jesus are of course able to seek the prayers of the Church at any time but should, perhaps, consider offering themselves for baptism – making contact with the waters of Christian re-birth they will open themselves to whatever healing Jesus desires for them as they begin a new life within the Church.
The Ministry of Healing

And they went out, and preached that men should repent. And they cast out many devils, and anointed with oil many that were sick, and healed them. Mark 6:12-13
Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord: And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him. James 5:14-15
